Don’t let the three star rating fool you, I really enjoyed this book. In fact, it was very close to being a four star rating – but it wasn’t quite there. A retired professional MLB player has met a terrifying end—and, considering the rumors swirling about his past, the list of suspects could fill a small stadium. Among them could soon be Delores, Hannah’s mother, who publicly held a grunge against the victim after he infamously dunked her in the tank at a previous county fair . . .

THIS story however, is a big departure from Herbert's usual "scare the nuggets out of you" stories. This is entertaining and heart-warming, especially if you're a dawg person...like me. It's almost like a children's story. In fact, you could read this to your little sprog at night and not worry about ensuing nightmares. In fact, your little scone-grabber will probably want you to hang around reading, until it's finished. And your wife will probably be listening in too. It's that good. The ending is a bit unsuitable for kiddos but good nevertheless. There is the criticism too, environmental topics are of course important, but because it´s mixed in a somewhat lukewarm mix of style elements and genre games, it didn´t really convince me. Moore writes in different styles, his novels have extreme differences in quality and depth, but this hybrid just doesn´t spark the reading pleasure one could wish for. Book Publisher: Thank you for coming in today, Mr. Moore. I wanted to discuss the manuscript you sent us. This book follows Jess and Pippa. Pippa works for a matchmaking company and they’re trying to expand and offering couples retreats. She lies about having an ex-husband. and suddenly agrees to prove some people in the workplace wrong by going on this couples retreat with her (fake) ex-husband that she doesn’t have. I mean what's not to love. He's been in love with Pippa for 15 years. All he ever did was try to show her just how special she was to him. And now that the opportunity has presented herself, he's taking it and hopefully at the end, will get him his dream girl.

James Herbert, who passed this year, was better known in the UK than the US. He started out as a horror novelist with The Rats in 1974. This was followed by another book which proved to be popular, The Fog. Herbert continued to produce novels on many different topics and genres until his recent death. Stephen King thought highly of him and there is a good podcast which covers his work, which you can listen to here. I don't know what kind of story I was expecting for Jess, but based on the interactions with him in Moss and Maddox's books I can say that a "he falls first" storyline was not it. After reading Fluke, I don't think I could imagine a story any different for him. My heart and face had a perma-smile in the way that Jess approached his relationship with Pippa and the confidence that she was it for him, even as she wavered with her insecurities. Jess said and did all the perfect, swoon inducing things- that I'm a little jelly Pippa gets him and not me 🤪 I absolutely adored Pippa- she's funny, sassy and despite not having a warm family life growing up she fit in with the Carmichael chaos perfectly. The plot itself was pretty intriguing to me. I know of films and books to go down similar routes but I believe this is the first time I personally have ever read a story where our protagonist is a man trapped inside of a dog's body. Each Laboratory is a link in the chain of an active network. Sharing information, expertise and the same quality standards.

Product overview: Introduction to Thermography Principles

What if waves after waves of unexplainable emotions and hazy memories drive your little body towards an unknown goal, only to find that sometimes even your most trusted memories can be warped and distorted beyond truth? Robert Harris is the author of the very successful and previously reviewed Fatherland, the kind of novel I usually do not read because it relies on the “what if” kind of assumptions that I find trite and silly. But that novel worked quite well. It assumed that Hitler had won the war, that he had successfully hidden the details of the Holocaust, and that he was about to begin friendly relations with the United States under president Kennedy. The a Berlin detective stumbles across evidence of the killing of the Jews and the peace talks threaten to unravel bringing the war of officialdom down on the detective. It was a surprisingly good read. These Carmichael siblings are probably my favorite from this talented storyteller. They're funny and outrageous and larger than life, and they're people I would love to know in real life. Harris’s understanding of modern Russia, if accurate, is chilling. The book is filled with little details (Stalin had two webbed toes on his left foot) that give it a strong sense of reality. Harris must have spent considerable time there: ”At five past 10, the door opened, '' Kelso describes a nightclub, ''A yellow light, the silhouettes of the girls, the steamy glow of their perfumed breath. . . . And from the cars now came the serious money. You could tell the seriousness not just by the weight of the coats and the jewelry but by the way their owners carried themselves, straight to the head of the line, and by the amount of protection they left hanging around at the door. Clearly, the only guns allowed on the premises belonged to the management.'' I spin around to face him. Moss’s head whips to his brother. Jess looks like he’s going to throttle Banks.

Death was not new to her because her father was an undertaker and when she was old enough to understand some of the medical words used in describing a person’s cause of death, she would examine the death certificates in her father’s office and to see the cause of death. As Harris continues his web he makes a number of important historical observations the most important of which focuses on Russian workers and peasants, who under the Tsar had nothing while the nobility owned the country. Later the workers and peasants owned nothing, and the Party owned the country. Later, the workers and peasants still owned nothing, and the country’s is owned as usual, “by whoever has the biggest fists.” Today it is the oligarchs and Putin. And while the journey to uncover the secrets of Stalin’s notebook was good, the reveal didn’t really live up to the expectations and the ending is a tad silly too. It didn’t help that the consequences of what the secret would mean are snuffed out almost immediately afterwards either – talk about underwhelming! I'm a big fan of Adriana's family series. I love that we get glimpses into the other characters lives and we always get hijinks from Banks. His antics are laugh out loud funny. I can't wait for his book. This has all of my favorite things: friends to lovers, great banter, great conversations, humor, and great characters. Jess and Pippa have known each other for many years, but their attraction never worked out when they were younger. Now that they are adults, they have an opportunity to see if there is more to it than just attraction. Pippa has created a situation for herself at work where she needs an ex-husband to go on a couples retreat with to see if she can rekindle a spark with. This is where Jess, her long time crush come in to save the day. Fortunately for Pippa, he's been asking her out for years and jumps at the chance to actually have a chance with her. Historian “Fluke” Kelso flies to Moscow to attend a symposium on Stalin, his specialist subject, and discovers the existence of a secret notebook Stalin kept during his final years – what does it contain??

Fluke Kelso is an American history professor giving a speech on Russian history in Moscow. He is a man who knows Russia's past....Or does he?However, she ended acting as maid to her two step-sisters who were introduced to London society with great aplomb. But Fate worked its wonder when Melissa met a man in the balcony and captured his heart. This book was followed by several romance novels which have captured the hearts of many readers. Other Standalone Novels Fluke.. I honestly wasn't sure if I wanted to read this mostly because I wasn't sure what to expect? I've read The fog and The rats and was expecting something horrific. Animal abuse is something I can't read about at all! as I own a dog, and he's my little man and my best friend. But I bit the bullet and I'm so glad I did. Despite my annoyance at the constant food related segments, I adored the overall story. Throughout we have the mystery of what is going on. The ending was wonderful, and I really should have seen the revelation before it was given. I honestly had expected it to play out in a completely different way. Whilst I wasn’t overly happy with the way it ended – I had wanted a lot more action – I found I enjoyed it a lot more than I imagined I would enjoy such an ending. That’s how it all begins, but from fairly early on it’s clear that there’s something very odd about little Fluke. He has strange flashes of memory: of another, much smaller, town surrounded by green fields; of a second mother, a human mother; of a much younger woman and a little girl in a house at the end of a narrow muddy lane. Human memories. How could a puppy come to have human memories? That’s the real story as Fluke sets out to discover the answer: who he once was, who he has become now, and why. Watching the first episode of the BBC miniseries Archangel over the weekend I realized "I know this story." Another 'lost book' had been recovered. It made me wonder though, how many others are out there, slipping through my dissolving memory? A good few, most likely.
