ARLU Blood Orange Rum
- Brand: Unbranded
Description
Alderman’s Drinks-owned Arlu Rum has launched its first ready-to-drink (RTD) rums in the UK, with three flavours available in its new range. We stopped production at our distillery and switched it to hand sanitiser production at the start of the pandemic – producing a whopping 2 million bottles in 7 days for public services in Greater Manchester.
Managing director and co-founder Miguel Riascos, says: “In 2020 our brand was resilient. We can attribute this to our two innovations. Both of these products performed well in 2020. “The Banana Experiment is special in that it pays homage to the heritage of the Riascos family, who were banana growers before embarking on rum making. As we didn’t have the opportunity to engage with consumers and customers face to face in 2020, this product really allowed us to share our brand story through our liquid. Our panel – made up of 10-accredited spirits experts and rum-loving consumers – put 35 spiced rums to the test, spanning supermarket steals to big-brand bottles. It’s now not uncommon to find a massive array of flavours, spices and variations on rum – which can often be overwhelming for someone who’s just looking for what tastes best and gets them drunk fast. The new hard seltzer is now available and comes in three flavors: lime, mint and elderflower; raspberry, hibiscus and lime; and finally lemon, ginger and grapefruit. Portobello Vodka Nakagawa adds the company was also inspired by the ancient art of Japanese fermentation and the concept of ikigai - 'your reason for being' or 'whatever gets you out of bed in the morning'.Jessica Smith, marketing executive at Continental Wine & Food (CWF), says in 2020 the company introduced Jolly Roger, a range of flavoured rum liqueurs. There are all kinds of exotic flavours of rum now appearing, but could too much choice pose a challenge for retailers? In addition, we have our rum brand, ARLU Rum, which is a range of spiced and flavoured rums imported from the Caribbean and blended with unique flavours and spices in the heart of Manchester. Shoppers can choose from Blood Orange, Passionfruit and Mango or Original Spiced flavours. Yoi, a new plant-based F&B company, has launched in Bay Area independent grocers in California this month with its Probiotic Nut and Seedmilks. Didsbury Blood Orange & Ginger Gin is a refreshing drink that awakens the senses with a zesty orange burst, tart grapefruit and warming ginger.
Top with soda water Other rum bottles available on the high street and online now Deadhead Dark Chocolate Rum Didsbury Gin is a range of bright, vibrant & zesty gins, which includes the original, as well as three flavoured gins: Strawberry & Sicilian Lemon, Raspberry & Elderflower and Blood Orange & Ginger. They are all available in 20cl and 70cl bottles. We also have limited edition flavours of our gins – and have just launched a Manchester Tart limited edition. Yoi, which means ‘good’ in Japanese, crafts its tart beverages in small batches from organic ingredients including almonds, coconut, and pumpkin seeds. Independent gin brand Portobello Road Gin is diversifying beyond juniper for the first time with a new portfolio of vodka made from English-distilled potato spirit. The menu, which is being kept secret until they open on Bank Holiday weekend, is made up of their own bespoke creations – other than the Aviation, Amy’s favourite – though of course if you want a straight up Martini or a Manhattan, they’ll make one for you, and all the classics will be available.Rum as a whole, but flavoured and spiced in particular, did well in the off-trade through the pandemic in the UK, say producers. Many introduced new variants last year and these have already found a foothold in the off-trade.
