With this massive bill, Harry finds himself trying to see how he can help, if only to keep them alive. Nesbø pulls the rug out from under his readers not once but twice, and it completely changes my feelings about everything I just read. The killer in this book uses methods so horrible and heinous that it’s one of the few crime novels I’ve read that has literally turned my stomach.
For me, the first most closely resembled what I thought I had signed up for and although I thought Richard was a jerk, some of the plot developments were interesting. It takes all of Hole’s ingenuity to uncover what must be the most unusual method of murder in contemporary crime fiction. A very few remain, but I don't find them to interesting, and don't make the story as gripping as previous one's did. I have really missed this series - it has been four years since I read the previous Harry Hole book - so delighted to see the series continuing (and, from the ending, likely to carry on further). The solution to the crimes is both shocking and complex, involving parasites and cannibalism and cocaine dealing.
