Excellent optical quality, it is really good to see an erect image and the right angle prism allows far more comfortable use than with a findder scope without the prism and erect image. The fixing holds in concrete as well as aerated concrete, masonry, as well as in gypsum plasterboard and gypsum fibreboard. Fortunately it's not a problem for me at the moment, but if it ever becomes an issue I can easily see myself joining the 8x50 club!

The viewfinder mount is suitable for many common types of telescopes, such as EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC, BRESSER MESSIER etc. On unpacking the first thing that struck me was that the 8x50 was absolutely pristine: as with many optical secondhand purchases I wondered if it had in fact ever been used. The scope itself seems well made and substantial, the only minus was the three different paint finishes between scope, mount and mounting bracket. This must be clearly marked on the customs information document ( CN22 and/ or CN 23) on the outside of the packaging.

picking up from Chuck's post: the 8x50s in general are, and the UV 8x50 in particular is, more compact than the usual 8x56. One of the bulbs has already blown,, after a few days use, but I contacted the supplier and he responded quickly, telling me this was unusual, and that he would send me a replacement bulb, which is hopefully on the way now, hence I am rating as 5 stars to reflect the overall service, value and responsiveness.
