Please take a look at our FAQ article that lists the platforms that have been tested so far, and don't hesitate to reach out to our support team if a streaming platform you'd like to use isn't available. Ninja includes comprehensive monitoring tools to help you get the perfect composition and exposure in every shot. Preserving the maximum dynamic range, color accuracy and detail, while at the same time you can control every aspect of the video image with precision for maximum creativity.

Smaller than conventional SATA SSDs they are an affordable professional alternative to recording to a camera’s internal memory cards. Choose “Clean” to record a clean feed of the currently switched to input or use the new “CAST Program” mode. When I picked up a Atomos Ninja V recently I assumed it’s monitoring features would be the same as the Shinobi, that’s not the case though. On the back is a battery slot for Sony NPF batteries and a slot for mounting SSD’s using bespoke Atomos Caddies. If files have been recovered, Proxy files will not be uploaded and highlighted with a red exclamation mark icon.

Though built-in screens have improved over the years they still do not meet the need of seeing the images on demand, on location – avoiding disappointment when it comes to exporting and editing. You can easily match colors and the extra information means you can manipulate footage easily in post-production. Even without recording the Ninja’s fan is running constantly and the device still gets hotter than the Shinobi even when it’s not recording. The sleek aluminium body is crafted for maximum durability, weighing in at just 360g and measuring only 25mm thick – easily attaching to any camera rig.

Having video files written to the SSD not only provides the option of higher quality video files but can speed up post production workflow and editing speeds although normally at the cost of much bigger files and storage space. False colour – Both devices have the False Colour feature but again the Shinobi seems higher resolution with finer edge detail than the Ninja.Capture and save reference stills during playback and recording with a tap of the new Frame Grab button. Compatible with most HDMI source including cameras from ARRI, Canon, FUJIFILM, Nikon, Panasonic, RED, Olympus, Sony, and Z-CAM. Although some of this technology has been around for a while, like with most new technology it’s expensive to start with.

Please consult the Quick Start Guide (QSG) included in the box with the AtomX CAST for details on how to connect the device. The Ninja V is built to withstand the testing of production and has an aluminium chassis and is powered by a single L-series battery. Built uniquely for the new Ninja and Ninja Ultra, it not only looks beautiful but introduces a host of great new features.

The diversity of codecs makes the Ninja V recordings compatible with all major editing software packages. Experienced Ninja user Keith Eccles takes a first look at the new AtomOS 11 interface and the new EL ZONE and ARRI false colour tools . The recording contains the new “Dip to”-transitions as well as the Fade In/Fade Out buttons used to fade in or fade out of your program during recording.
