At the end of each chapter are detail and main idea questions about the chapter’s contents as well as a prayer. Ambassador International's mission is to impact lives by publishing books that magnify Christ and share the Gospel.

Chronic Love: Trusting God while Suffering with a Chronic Illness is a book for women who are either suffering from chronic illness or those who care for those suffering. As Bartz reminds us, “[t]o have physical health but no salvation is the most fatal and terminal disease of all.

I am not well versed in scripture and the reading was not only easy reading but at each section it gave relevant scripture to reach out to you and let you know just how much Christ cares for you and loves you. The Father's answer is in Isaiah 53: 10, "it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief.

Brooke Bartz is a stay-at-home wife and mom who lives daily with a chronic disease, knowing firsthand the daunting, gnawing physical and spiritual pain it causes. We hope that these conversations can offer a needed counterpoint to the often sterile portrayals of illness and treatment in the service of helping those living with illness to feel less alone; to offer supportive others a lens through which they may more sensitively meet the needs of their fellow humans with illness; and to raise awareness, curiosity, critical thought, and contemplations of change as we lean into issues that impose further hardship on humans living with illness. Many of us would do as well for ourselves to handle the perplexities of chronic illness the way this author has. I’d easily recommend this for people to read who either deal with illness themselves or know of others that do. Each year Ambassador International works with a variety of talented, passionate authors using their gifts to change lives.

The idea that God ordains chronic illness, gives it to people for His purposes is utterly disagreeable for me. It has really shown me how strong those like me are and as CHRIST continued to trust in God knowing there will be an eternal ever after in a body that is not ill ridden but healthy and free. Yet disease was not always her close companion; in the years before her diagnosis, she grew up playing sports and earned a full scholarship to play volleyball at the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor.

Even with that, I would recommend the book for the discerning reader for there is much to learn from author Brooke Bartz, who herself is well acquainted with chronic illness, sharing her love and compassion for others with passion and exhortation. So, don't trust your feelings, embrace what Scripture says and what this author stays consistent to and enjoy these abiding truths. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12 it was the Lord that afflicted His servant with this thorn in the flesh, to remind him of his fallenness, his weakness, and his utter dependence upon divine mercy.

While it is obvious the author has the spiritual gift of exhortation, I wish the format would be a bit easier to read. However, a God who walks with me, sometimes carries me through my chronic conditions, for Him I can only express deep gratitude and love. I have lived with MS for 20 years and Brooke’s book touched me and hit me hard just knowing I’m not alone.
