There's not a great deal I can add, Hawkwind have a very eccentric almost impenetrable sound, to sit here and explain it would definitely be a fruitless exercise. This is the first Hawkwind album that I bought - back in the days when albums were black and you had the option of playing them at the wrong speed. Hawkwind were progressing from being a 'space rock' group looking to the future to actually sounding (with their new lp) like a band that intended to be part of it .

The band was formed in 1969 by visionary Dave Brock and although it has been subject to numerous line-up changes it is still led by him. At the time I was very into heavy metal, and I knew Lemmy had been in Hawkwind, I thought the album had an air of mystique about it so bought it. Cress Lucid from PortugalNik Turner, who i knew in his latter years, was the man, the energy and soul of the hawk saga which is now a space ritualised space falcon. Please consider supporting us by giving monthly PayPal donations and help keep PA fast-loading and ad-free forever. I'm going to be completely honest, there are a lot of progressive rock bands from the 70's I would rather listen to over Hawkwind, but every now and then I get that itch where I'm in the mood for something really progressive, weird and different. Masters of the Universe is a 1977 compilation album by Hawkwind covering the years 1971 to 1974 while the group were contracted to United Artists Records. Running in at under 40mins,it can't be accused of 'overstaying its welcome' but does look unusual now that compilation CDs are often twice that length. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. His latest release, “The Last Big Score,” is a testament to his songwriting prowess, featuring memorable hooks and an undeniable energy that shines in both his live performances and . I only bought it because of the cover, but was happily blown away after I'd heard it for the first time. Masters of the Universe, was not the original Hawkwind compilation, but placed alongside with the previous year's Roadhawks and the unparalleled Space Ritual, that trio makes for a damn good starter pack for the newcomer to Hawkwind.Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term.
