With all that black fabric attached to the edges, you could be fooled into thinking there's a speaker built into this turntable.

I also noticed mechanical noise from the turntable, not enough to be spoil the music, but a bad sign. Fortunately, the company’s UK branch posted a setup video, and it reveals that the tracking weight is 2. The instructions clearly describe how to slide the counterweight onto the back of the tonearm and then balance it for playback. I have both the House of Marley and a Pro-ject Primary E and would say the HoM is the better sounding, despite the PJ getting all the plaudits review wise. A zoetrope slipmat is a specialised slipmat that creates the illusion of motion while the turntable is spinning.

The RCA outputs on the back of the turntable allow you to connect it to your speakers or receiver, just like most other turntables. It is the essential source of information and ideas that make sense of a world in constant transformation. I have seen some reviews of this turntable that have found the tonearm difficult to balance for setting up the correct weight on the stylus. One of the things I really like about House of Marley is the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

It’s not an issue once you understand that’s how it works, but users might be confused the second time they try to use the turntable with a Bluetooth speaker. It took a couple minutes at most, and I was able to place my record immediately after and enjoy skip-free listening. There’s zero mention of the concept, something that will cause frustration for new users unfamiliar with turntables. It’s ideal for those who care about the environment and sustainability, and it’s not too daunting to set up either, even for those who are new to turntables. From thinking about what might have been a slow (might have been) initial response everything has been excellent.

But those options certainly won't be as pretty to look at as the Stir It Up Lux, with its black glass platter and bamboo plinth. The turntable is belt-driven, and the platter comes unattached and needs assembling, however it is not daunting as it sounds. The House of Marley Stir it Up has consistently, and comfortably, lived in this echelon for years, and the Lux continues the tradition with a solid-sounding, easy-to-setup and use turntable with standout looks and all kinds of connectivity options that make it perfect for beginners and beyond.Lift the tonearm using the lever and carefully place it at the beginning of the record or the beginning of a song. The WIRED conversation illuminates how technology is changing every aspect of our lives—from culture to business, science to design. The company focuses on sustainability above all things, and while that has many benefits, it does come at a premium (which isn't necessarily bad). The Bluetooth connectivity is quick and easy, as long as you turn off all other Bluetooth sources close to the turntable (it will connect to the strongest signal – you don’t get to pick). With a bamboo plinth, REGRIND silicone rubber and REWIND fabric, this turntable has a distinct and stylish look that also promotes sustainability.

Along the metal arm is an engraving of a lyric: “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain”, taken from Marley's ‘Trench Town Rock’.

Crafted with a solid bamboo plinth, the Stir It Up Lux Bluetooth® Turntable is denser and heavier, meaning it effectively absorbs motor and bearing noise (as well as any vibrations from external sources) while providing a cleaner and more accurate audio experience. Audio-Technica's stylus could stay locked in the grove the entire time and didn't skip a single time, regardless of the genre or bass response I played. The breakthroughs and innovations that we uncover lead to new ways of thinking, new connections, and new industries. It seems you have two choices: either mimicking a 1970s briefcase or a shiny 1950s diner aesthetic player that makes the record sound like it was recorded in a garage under a bucket, or a plain and bulky high-end turntable that sounds amazing but will hardly set Instagram ablaze.
