They will steal a 100-megaton bomb and explode it underwater in the Bosporus to cause a tsunami that will “drown sixteen million dirty Turks in a flood of their own radioactive bathwater. A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. Like millions of others, I first became a Tom Clancy fan after reading The Hunt for Red October, and began my published fiction career in the same techno-thriller genre, starting with DRONE and the sequels, BLUE WARRIOR, DRONE COMMAND and DRONE THREAT. But to do so means putting their lives on the line to find the weapon - before its countdown hits zero . Clive Cussler was the author of more than eighty books in five bestselling series, including Dirk Pitt®, NUMA Files®, Oregon Files®, Isaac Bell®, and Sam and Remi Fargo®.

The narrator, soon established as Elliot Chase, then zooms out to address the reader directly, introducing the players—most importantly movie star Lana Farrar. The crew is mostly former military/intelligence except for a Hollywood guy who lends his special effects, makeup, and wardrobe talent. A massive Russian underwater bomb has gone missing and the Oregon must find and stop it before it goes off. As the series’ fans know, the Oregon is a 590-foot “rust bucket tramp steamer” on the outside and a technological marvel on the inside. This felt more like a plodding series of events instead of the rip roaring, fast paced adventures of the Oregon Crew.A volcanic eruption is quite another, for, as the journalist who does a framing voice-over narration for Brooks’ latest puts it, when Mount Rainier popped its cork, “it was the psychological aspect, the hyperbole-fueled hysteria that had ended up killing the most people. Although a good read, I could tell this was not a book written by Cussler and I had to downgrade to 4 stars. If they can get hold of a devastating weapon, they will enact a terrible revenge - and millions will die. With millions of innocent civilians hanging in the balance, the Oregon’s crew must unravel a tangle of drug-smuggling routes and international conspiracies spanning from the Aegean Sea to the Indian Ocean, putting their lives on the line to find the weapon before its countdown hits zero. The atmosphere of the novel, set mostly on this wild Greek island, echoes strongly the classical tragedies of Greece.

All of our books are 100% brand new, unread and purchased directly from the publishers in bulk allowing us to pass the huge savings on to you! Because the Oregon's crew have just stumbled on the Pipeline - a vast criminal network stretching across the globe. A few quibbles, first, the pace in the middle because of the details that almost turn this adventure into a geopolitical thriller. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills.

Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon must track down a criminal dynasty and a nuclear torpedo - before World War III is unleashed .

Indeed, the novel does double duty as a survival manual, packed full of good advice—for instance, try not to get wounded, for “injury turns you from a giver to a taker. The name Hellburner occurs twice near the end and is not integral to the storyline, but it makes for a good title. Linda Ross, Doc Huxley, Mac D, Eddie, Raven and Overholt also were not consistent from previous books. This time, Juan Carrillo and his team are on the trail of a drug lord and a massive drug smuggling setup.
