In October 2023, Roku announced that it had picked up the series and will release it on The Roku Channel in 2024. The site's critical consensus reads: " The Spiderwick Chronicles is an entertaining children's adventure, with heart and imagination to spare. The ogre brags of his plan and reveals that the Field Guide is underneath his throne, and Jared mockingly tells Mulgarath that he and his siblings have killed all the dragons. Later in the series he ends up stealing the Field Guide and hiding it, believing this will be for the better.

They are unorganized and savage, only gathering themselves to an army (under the leadership of a redcap bull goblin named Wormrat) when Mulgarath takes power. However, Disney was planning to correct that when in 2021, a television series adaptation was announced but, unfortunately, after budget constraints hit the media giant, major cuts were made to productions, which saw many, including The Spiderwick Chronicles, sadly canceled. The family defend themselves with kitchen knives and tomato sauce/salt bombs (ingredients deadly to goblins) that Simon and Thimbletack made earlier and manage to kill Redcap and the goblins in an explosion of tomato sauce. They seem to be able to do some magic as well, as they owned a cap able to make humans breathe underwater (similarly to the caps worn by merfolk in fairy tales to walk on the shore). The siblings escape just after Mulgarath leaves with his goblins and the weapons made by the dwarves. After they have walked for a while along a stream, Jared discovers a small group of Sprites looking down on them from the top of a tree.A giant then attacks them, being saved by the showing up of Jack Junior, who suddenly decided to listen to his father and come help the children kill the giants (being surprised when they reveal him that killing giants is no longer their plan). At that moment, Redcap and his goblins attack them through the window and manage to tear off several pages from the Book before being driven off. Spanning six books, several spin-offs, and even a high-budget 2008 movie, The Spiderwick Chronicles is a franchise akin to Harry Potter and Twilight in that it has seen an enormous amount of 21st-century success from the page to the screen.

For those who were wondering where was The Spiderwick Chronicles filmed, it was in Montreal and Quebec (Canada).Jared and his sister have to rely on the help of a mischievous house boggart, a nasty bridge troll, and a loud-mouthed hobgoblin to get him back. It leads to Jared trying to take the Stone by violence, which makes Thimbletack turn into a Boggart, who flees.
